The Buddha Hoop
The Buddha Hoop | by Matt Bunsen
I remember when I first got high
Feeling wise and unimpaired
I remember that I came down hard
My oh my, so unprepared
If you don’t detach yourself form worldly things
How you gonna buy yourself some new I chings?
Give each one a try
But if you really want to know yourself,
You’re gonna have to jump through the Buddha Hoop
I remember when I first saw God
She made me laugh and I was scared
I guess she knew I broke my vows
Oh my my, hope I’ll be spared
Metaphysics gonna sort the truth from lies
Aristotle says it’s part of being wise
So give each one a try
But if you really want to know yourself,
You’re gonna have to jump through the Buddha Hoop
I remember there was fire in my eyes
It made my blind and unaware
If by chance someday you see the light
Take my advice – don’t stop and stare
Cabalistic mystic never leaves a doubt
Bodhisattva gonna get it figured out
Let me tell you why
Everybody gotta figure out a way
How you gonna yourself through the day
with things that you cant buy
Maybe you should contemplate a sacred vow
Maybe you should take a dose of ‘be here now’
And someday you will fly
Ramadan, Boonaroo, Dark Star -> Morning Dew
fair trade dopamine, Rastafarian chicken soup
Everything under the sky
But if you really want to know yourself
You’re gonna have to jump through the Buddha Hoop
